City Park "the Lion park"

green lung of 43 hectares

Located in the centre of Wattrelos, this 43-hectare green space will charm young and old alike. In a green setting, you can go for a walk, go fishing, visit the Educational Farm or play sports.  

The Parc du Lion offers walkers and families a relaxing environment. Children can play on the various playgrounds in the park or on the huge grassy area in the centre of the park. Walkers can take a stroll along the footpaths. All can enjoy a well-deserved break in the picnic areas. 

For the athletes,, the Park offers running loops, a bicross track, a 900 m² skate park, 8 target archery and pole shooting pits, as well as the Maison des Jeux de Tradition where it is possible to practice the bourle and javelin. Two fishing ponds are also available for fishing enthusiasts.

The Educational Farm awaits you for a discovery of a traditional farm of yesteryear.

Located at one of the entrances to the park (rue Jean-Castel), the municipal Educational Farm welcomes children and all those nostalgic for life in the countryside to an authentic Wattrelosian farm. Throughout the year, young and old alike flock to the brooding stables, stables and pens which house ponies, donkeys, horses, cows, goats, rabbits, bees and many others... while geese and ducks glide majestically on the pond.

Guided tours by appointment for schoolchildren, youth centres, etc..
